February - Rippon Vineyard, on South Island, has one of the most spectacular settings of all the Vineyards in New Zealand, and it makes good wines including award winning Pinots. It is on the edge of Lake Wanaka. We camped a few miles away at Albert town on the edge of the Clutha river, once famous for it's Gold. There are still many artifacts from those days and we walked round some of the old goldfields. Wanaka town is set on the edge of the Lake and is a popular tourist resort both summer and winter because of the magnificent scenery, walking and ski fields.
