| Mission Statement |
To make available useful information on Pete and Pauline,
their interests and recent activities to their friends round the
world and all those they communicate with - professional contacts,
neighbours, colleagues, research associates, students and potential
customers or employers.
The above mission statement has remained unchanged from a few months after the site was started.
Recent sections however have an additional and increasing emphasis on providing a service to others - this is particularly true in the Howto Technical series of pages and the Small Firms section and to an extent in the Uniquely New Zealand Touring guide. This reflects a wish to allow others to benefit and share our experiences and avoid having to reinvent wheels.
Furthermore, it seems important to us to feed something back in by teaching, open source and mentoring etc., to make up for everything we have gained from friends, colleagues and mentors. Two of Pete's favourite quotes are the firstly by Isacc Newton "If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants." and the in particular the one that he has at the start of his thesis by the brilliant Space Scientist Robert Goddard, "It is difficult to say what is impossible, for the dream of yesterday is the hope of today and the reality of tomorrow".
